STORYTELLING
I fell in love with storytelling through reading.
Books helped me make sense of the world and, where they failed, let me escape it altogether. As a result, I was deep, brimming with complex thoughts and ideas beyond my childhood years.
Eventually, I began writing short stories and articles for the newspaper in grade school. Late at night, I would write in my journal, but my secret dream is to be a writer, burying it deep underneath my bed before going to sleep.
Years later, after studying biology as a pre-med, and realizing I didn’t want to become a doctor, I came back to writing and creativity as a path to job satisfaction and long-term fulfillment.
Since then, I’ve received a Hedgebrook Writers’ Residency and contributed to Gawker, Essence.com, Guernica, Shadow & Act, Okayafrica, The African Magazine, PopMatters, and the Stanford Black Arts Quarterly. I’ve written dozens of articles, a memoir, two feature screenplays, several short films, and hundreds of blogs.
Whether it’s a book, film, article, or play, it’s all storytelling, and I love helping brands tell their stories better. What gives me an edge above the competition is my proficiency in multiple disciplines, an ability to advise on the best medium to deliver your message.
It can be tough figuring out how to use words, images, videos, and social media to best promote your work. But you’re not alone: every person, brand, or company is making dozens of choices every day about how to tell their story. That’s where I can help.
I work with brands at every stage of development—from startups, to established brands, artists, and Fortune 500 companies.
Through consultation with you, I explore your brand’s purpose and vision. We evaluate your unique value proposition and emotional selling points to create a plan that articulates your value while attracting an audience.
For starters, tell me about your project and I’ll set up a free consultation to discuss your needs. You can also choose one of my products below or join my mailing list for a 10% discount, plus tips on how to tell your story better. Looking forward!
